Oil & Gas news in brief

Nuclear power station
Portakabin, the UK’s leading modular specialist, has delivered its largest office building at EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C site. It’s the first nuclear power station to be built in the UK in nearly 30 years and the site preparation works are now well underway. Once completed, it will supply seven per cent of the UK’s electricity.

The latest contract awarded to Portakabin was for a 3450m2 office and welfare building, to provide facilities of the highest standards for the increasing number of staff and contractors working on the Hinkley Point C project. The three-storey ‘East Office Annex’ provides desk space for more than 220 staff working on the civil construction; meeting and IT rooms; welfare accommodation for the site workforce including 1200 lockers, changing rooms, showers, and drying space; and a 450-seat multiuse canteen which will serve around 1350 meals a day.

Digitalising spending
KMG Rompetrol has selected Coupa to automate its procurement processes and increase efficiency across its operations. Headquartered in Bucharest, Romania, and a subsidiary of KazMunayGas, the state-owned oil and gas company of Kazakhstan, KMG Rompetrol is one of the most well established oil companies in Europe.

Operating in a highly competitive global industry and with an expanding supplier and customer base, it required an agile solution that would not only allow its internal procurement activities to be automated, but also add value by providing insight into measurable key KPIs. After a stringent evaluation of the marketplace, KMG Rompetrol chose Coupa’s S2P and analytics software, highlighting the mobility of the Coupa solution and intuitive user interface of the platform as important advantages.
