ASAP Industries

As long as exploration companies continue to drill for oil and gas throughout the United States – whether it is in the shale formations throughout the land-bound states or through offshore plays – ASAP Industries will have products ready to deliver for their specific needs. Since 2001, ASAP Industries has remained nimble enough to cater to the booming markets as quickly as the work becomes available while providing the follow-up maintenance service that keeps clients loyal to the company.

“ASAP continues to be committed to servicing the customer in an extremely quick manner,” Sales Manager Jack McIntyre says. “From our CEO on down to shipping and receiving, the overall commitment to teamwork just makes it work at ASAP. We know we need to do it quickly and right, so everyone focuses on that in the company.”

ASAP Industries was founded in 2001, but the company’s owner, founder and CEO Timmy Deroche has more than 30 years of experience in custom machining, most of which stems from his days at his father’s shop, Preferred Industries. Shortly after his father sold his machine shop, Deroche founded ASAP Industries.

Today, ASAP Industries employs more than 180 people and boasts annual revenues of $45 million. The company caters to the oil and gas industries, including offshore drillers as well as drilling, rental companies, and fracking companies operating in the Marcellus, Utica, Bakken and Eagleford shale plays.

Vast Capabilities
ASAP Industries manufactures threaded flow-control, flanged flow-control and surface wellhead components through its custom machining division. The company is also one of the largest non-OEM, API-certified machine shops in south Louisiana to manufacture spools, adapters, custom connections, flanges, els, tees and crosses, sand separators as well as various water-jet-cut items. ASAP offers fabrication, blow out preventer repair and welding services. ASAP Industries provides quality assurance through non-destructive evaluation and hydrostatic testing, as well as stress-relief oven services.

The company distributes its products through numerous large OEMs as well as through various rental companies with locations around the world.

Today’s Market
Despite the worldwide recession, McIntyre says ASAP Industries potentially can increase its revenues to between $55 million and $60 million in 2012 based on some early indicators. For instance, the company is creating applications for longer-lasting frac heads that will increase the life of the frac head for fracking companies accessing natural gas and oil in all types of formations.

Also, the company is working with various clients to improve the flowbacks of their respective wells. ASAP has tweaked its design to knock out sand in the flow line of these extractors, which extends the life of the products by eliminating the wear typically created by the friction of the escaping sand.

With an increase in drilling permits – on land and offshore – being awarded throughout North America, ASAP had to quickly ramp up its operations to keep up with demand for its products. The company recently expanded its facility in Houma, La., to 74,000 square feet. ASAP Industries also keeps millions of dollars’ worth of raw material inventory on hand to cater to clients who need quick turnarounds.

“One of our biggest assets is having millions of dollars of inventory on the ground to get to our shop as quickly as possible,” he says. “Also, we always have a machine we need that does something a little better and more effectively.”

Future Growth
McIntyre says the company always is on the lookout for acquisition opportunities to expand its list of capabilities.

“If [an acquisition] does happen, it will be something similar to ASAP but with a different machine set than ASAP’s,” he says.

No matter how big ASAP Industries becomes over the years, he says, the company will remain dedicated to turning around its customers’ orders as quickly as possible and delivering the right product the first time, every time.

“We’ll continue to serve our customers in a timely manner with outstanding and excellent products in this ever-changing oil and gas market while being a partner in our community,” McIntyre says.
