Norwegian patent secured
STL (Subsea Technologies Limited) has been awarded a Norwegian patent for its revolutionary product that unlocks efficiencies within the oil and gas industry.
The company’s market-leading high-angle release connector greatly enhances safety and reduces environmental risks, whilst saving time and money by increasing a vessel’s operating window. A pioneering product by having no maximum disconnect angle, it also allows the vessel’s crew enough time to respond to challenging scenarios without the risk of getting stuck to the wellhead or damaging the connector if the crew do not react fast enough – a risk presented by all other connectors on the market.
Drummond Lawson, STL managing director, said the patent recognised the product’s unique offering in the subsea riser connector market. He said: “The award of the Norwegian patent for our Xtreme Release Connector adds to our growing number of patents and is a true testament to the team’s dedication and focus on quality and integrity in bringing this advanced technology to the global subsea market. We overcame a variety of challenges experienced by existing products in the market, demonstrated by securing this new patent. Our XR Connector differs from other subsea connectors by offering face-to-face technology, which we believe is highly advantageous to both our existing and potential customers.”
