With more than 60,000 professional visitors and over 1200 exhibitors, ONS is the ideal arena to establish new partnerships and alliances

Regarded as THE global energy meeting place for international suppliers, operating companies and decision makers, ONS attracts exhibitors and visitors from all over the world. Encompassing an exhibition, conference and festival, this year’s ONS has a theme of INNOVATE, and this topic was chosen to reflect not only the energy industry’s talent for re-inventing itself, over and over again, but the need for innovation to address future challenges – the obligation to deliver energy to the world’s population, at the same time as protecting the planet.

Conference
The theme of INNOVATE will permeate the show; but it is heavily covered in the comprehensive Conference programme, which includes 550 speakers over seven conference arenas. Held at the Clarion Hotel Energy, attendees can choose to access this extensive programme through a Full Conference Pass or Day Pass, and they can experience content in a variety of arenas:

  • Centre Court – conference arena at the exhibition, strong focus on clean energy topics
  • Technical Sessions – technological solutions to the industry’s main challenges
  • Young – extensive programme for lower and upper secondary school pupils, students, young professionals and for teachers and advisers.
  • International Markets, presented by NORWEP – focus on business opportunities abroad for Norwegian companies
  • Renewable Markets – focus on business opportunities in renewable markets
  • ONS Summit – forum for senior executives and governmental leaders attending ONS

The 2018 conference speaker programme features a veritable Who’s Who from the global oil and gas stage – participants can expect to hear interesting and insightful comments from esteemed figures such as HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Eldar Sætre, President and CEO of Equinor, Elena Burmistrova, General Director, Gazprom Export, and Erna Solberg, the Prime Minister of Norway. Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of Total, Sir John Scarlett, the Former Chief of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and Narendra Taneja, Chairman of the Independent Energy Policy Institute will all be contributing to the Conference as well, and this is just a small percentage of the speakers who will be present! Exhibition
Running in tandem with the conference, the ONS exhibition extends over nine exhibition halls, covers 22,500 square metres of exhibition space, and features 1241 exhibitors from 40 countries. Exhibitors at the event have access to one of the largest gatherings of operators in the world, giving them the ideal venue to connect with their target group and showcase their technologies and products, as well as engage with new partners and suppliers and attract investors and new clients.

Having continuously evolved to meet the needs of visitors and exhibitors, this year’s exhibition will include two designated areas for innovators and companies with clean energy initiatives: Innovation Park and Clean Energy Park. The Innovation Park, organised by The Research Council of Norway, is going to be the place to visit 18 small and medium sized innovative companies, all of which have technologies with large value creation potential for the Norwegian Continental Shelf and are co-funded by The Norwegian Research Council. All companies will apply for the Innovation award.

The Clean Energy Park is a showroom for companies
providing technologies, products and/or solutions promoting:

  • cleaner fossil energy production
  • smart use of energy on the petromaritime industry
  • renewable energy production
  • smart power development and optimisation including enabling technologies

The park will also feature relevant research institutes and innovation enablers.

Other important facets of the exhibition are the 35 regional or national pavilions. For some companies, it is natural to join a pavilion rather than exhibiting on their own at ONS. It is practical, since the pavilion owners take care of much of the preparations, and not only does joining a pavilion give the exhibitors the same access to the ONS meeting place, it provides additional marketing. Pavilions are often a stepping-stone for companies that may eventually become independent exhibitors – the countries exhibiting in 2018 include China, Denmark, Germany, France, Estonia, Scotland, Russia, the US and the UK.

Featuring operators and suppliers from all over the world, the exhibition halls have been filling up with great companies for ONS 2018 ever since the end of the last event in 2016, and today the well-recognised names at the event will include Saudi Aramco, Statoil, Shell, Total, ConocoPhilips and AkerSolutions, to name just a select few. Festival
When the exhibition and conference are finished for the day, yet more activities are available for visitors at the ONS Festival. In this social network arena, the after-party and various cultural events take place in the festival area in Stavanger’s harbour, in the city centre. Energy cities and companies host pavilions and boats, and culinary delights, art and entertainment abound. Further entertainment is provided by the ONS Artist (artist to be announced), the Run for fun – the ONS road race and The ONS Concert in the city. For further information visit: www.ons.no/festival.

It is clear that ONS is more than just your average event. Not only is it a world-leading exhibition and a highly comprehensive conference, but also a festival, wherenetworking can go hand-in-hand with entertainment, food and fun. As Stavanger gears up to be ready for the visitors and exhibitors, there’s still time to book conference tickets or even look at taking a stand for your own company. Can you afford to miss it?
