Oil Engineering Middle East LLC

Steely determination

Established in 2006, primarily to provide fabrication services to the oil, gas and energy sectors in the UAE and surrounding areas, Oil Engineering Middle East LLC specialises in pipe work, pressure vessels and structural steel fabrication.

The success and track record of the fabrication services provided in the UK by OIL Engineering (Aberdeen), particularly within the oil and gas industry, proved the catalyst for OIL ME to developOil Engineering 10 2010 b into its current position in Abu Dhabi, offering the core essentials of a Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2000, OHSAS 18001:2007 and ASME U stamp, recognised and accredited by Bureau Veritas and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

In 2009 OIL Engineering joined the Isleburn brand following its acquisition by the Global Energy Group. Isleburn provides the full spectrum of engineering disciplines from mechanical and electrical through to fabrication. The move further consolidated Isleburn as one of Scotland’s largest manufacturers of bespoke products to a range of sectors including clients in the oil and gas industry, process industries, utilities, dock & harbour facilities, MoD, nuclear and industrial site services. The expansion also incorporated extra facilities in Aberdeen and Dunfermline, as well as on the Cromarty Firth in the north of Scotland.

As a ‘one-stop-shop’ for engineering capability, Isleburn combines the essential skills of fabrication, welding and mechanical and electrical engineering. In addition, its expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation and corrosion protection offer the ideal combination for the turnkey execution of projects.

Isleburn is part of the Global Energy Group. Formed in 2005, with main offices in Inverness and Aberdeen, the Global Energy Group is a contracting and service-based company supporting the international energy industry and other industrial sectors through turnkey project solutions and stand-alone services. Encompassing ten companies, the group’s principal activities are: engineering; fabrication; rig repair and inspection; resource management; supply chain solutions and pipeline services. Each individual business unit is run by highly qualified and experienced people that appreciate and understand clients’ needs. Global Energy Group is known for its innovative approach to providing quality solutions in all areas of its work and the success of its business is based on the high quality of people it has working in the group.

The yard, based in Mussaffah, Abu Dhabi, contains six fully insulated workshops with c/w overhead cranes up to 40t SWL, an 11,700m2 internal fabrication area, a 12,000m2 fabrication and lay-down area and a 250m jetty with 5.5-metre draft.

The facilities that Oil Engineering Middle East has created include equipment to enable the company to carry out a full range of structural and pipe work fabrication with procedures in place Oil Engineering 10 2010 ccovering all grades of carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, nickel and copper nickel alloys.

Typical projects have included:

  • All sizes of pipe work in various material grades
  • Decks, deck extensions and lay down platforms
  • Living quarter modules
  • Pressure vessels
  • Process skids packages
  • Electrical distribution and control containers

The capabilities available at the Abu Dhabi location include:

  • Pipework fabrication
  • Structural steelwork fabrication
  • Pressure vessels
  • Pressurised technical building and living quarters
  • Laser scanning and dimensional control

This last option is proving a very popular choice with clients, featuring as it does 3D laser scanning (the latest Z+F 5006 Series, provision of 3D Point Cloud or 3D CAD models from scanned data), pre-design of all piping systems, surveying and dimensional control of pipework, structural steel surveys, structural monitoring, fabrications surveys, ship repair and ship building surveys.

Since the acquisition by the Global Energy Group, Oil Engineering Middle East has been focusing its efforts on developing its business in this region. Global Energy is a very well established and recognised name and the group is eager to share its expertise to help develop Oil Engineering’s business.
